Engineering Notes

Co-simulation starts with interface and time management

01

Interface Contracts

List each simulation node's inputs and outputs, units, coordinate systems, update rates, and event semantics, and designate the authoritative source for each state. Confirm version changes and responsibility boundaries before integration testing.

02

Time and Exceptions

Define stepping, synchronization, pause, reset, and termination rules, and check behavior under latency, packet loss, and node exit. When using FMI, verify the specific capabilities of the master program and each FMU as well.

03

Joint acceptance

Complete individual node acceptance and end-to-end coordinated runs separately, retaining logs on a shared timeline. Restart and rerun agreed scenarios to confirm that data mappings and final metrics are reproducible.
