What does outsourced SysML system modeling typically deliver?

Last updated: · New Horizon Digital Outsourcing Team

Outsourced SysML system modeling typically delivers an accessible model project, key views such as requirements, structure, and behavior, view descriptions, traceability relationships, and review and handover materials. New Horizon Digital Outsourcing Team can also provide source code for modeling support tools within the agreed scope. Commercial software installation and training alone are outside the core scope of this service.

Typical deliverables

  • Model project files and baseline version notes.
  • The agreed view set and a summary of naming and modeling conventions.
  • A requirements-to-structure/behavior traceability matrix or equivalent evidence.
  • Review materials, including issues, conclusions, and action items.

Acceptance recommendations

  • Focus on completeness of the agreed views, inspectable traceability, and whether the model opens in the agreed tool.
  • Demonstration screenshots cannot replace model-project handover.

Relationship to system-of-systems architecture modeling

  • UAF/DoDAF emphasize system-of-systems viewpoint products, while SysML emphasizes system design models. They can be delivered together, with scope tailored before deeper development.

Engineering Notes

Check these three points before agreeing on the modeling scope

01

Versions are not a minor detail

SysML v2 is more than a visual reskin: textual notation, semantics, and APIs all require tool support. Agree on the language version, tool version, and dependent libraries before specifying project packages and exchange formats.

02

Trial acceptance with one requirement

Select a requirement with explicit criteria and ask to see its responsible object, behavioral path, and verification method. If only a diagram can be found and its relationships cannot be inspected, model traceability remains insufficient.

03

Separate models from custom tools

Model projects, modeling conventions, export programs, and commercial tool licenses are separate deliverables. Specify source-code handover scope independently; do not assume third-party software transfers with the project.
